The best and most effective method of understanding maintenance of car is through the owner’s manual, which provides complete information. The performance of the car engine is largely dependent on the engine oil. So, check the engine oil for every 10-15 days and change it for every three months. If the color of oil on dipstick is black, then change it. Auto Transmission fluid (ATF used for oiling brakes valves etc) need to checked after the car runs 30,000 or 50,000 miles. If the color of oil is brown on dipstick, then change it. Low coolant level will cause the engine to overheat, which may cause serious damage to the engine. Therefore, coolant level should be between “LOW” and “FULL” marks in the coolant overflow tank.

Tyre pressure of a car should be checked once in a month. All the tyres must be balanced and wear out of tyres should be in safety limit, or else it leads to accidents. The Constant Velocity joints (CV) need to be checked regularly, if it is broken, it should be replaced. Car should be stored in dry, temperate location when it is not in use. This prevents extreme wear-out of interior and exterior. It is better to check for small problems like any irregular noise, vibration, shimmer, or any leakage is noticed or a warning light is noticed while driving or anything irregular occurs, before it develops into something serious and it has to be repaired at garage.
