Marijuana is one of the most commonly used illegal drugs in the United States. Both mind and body of the drug user are affected. Delusions, hallucinations, and loss of self-identification are some of the effects of marijuana addiction. Functions of heart, brain, lungs and other vital organs may also get damaged by long-term marijuana use. Hence, marijuana drug testing has a very important role in detecting the abused people at workplaces, home, and other organizations. Marijuana abuse among children has become a serious concern for parents. Marijuana drug test can be conducted at home using special drug test kits.
Marijuana testing at home can be done in three ways. They include saliva drug test, hair drug test, and urine drug test.
Saliva Drug Test:
Saliva samples can be used for testing marijuana that is consumed recently. A gum swab is kept in the mouth of an individual to collect saliva. The drug present in the sample can be detected within five minutes by saliva drug test kits. The drug can be detected in saliva for 12 hours after consumption. The results obtained by saliva tests is about 97%. Hence, they can also be used at schools and other organizations.
Hair Drug Test:
Hair marijuana testing uses hair samples taken from head, arm or legs of an individual. Metabolites of marijuana are detected by this test for up to 90 days after consumption. However, laboratory analysis is required for getting appropriate results. But, it is more efficient when compared with other tests.
Urine Drug Test:
Urine drug test is most commonly used for checking marijuana consumption. The drug once consumed enters bloodstream. Through bloodstream it reaches all the parts of the body and is found in urine in about 2 to 5 hours after consumption. However, this may vary based on the physiological changes of the user and amount of drug consumed. Urine home drug test kits can detect marijuana for up to 15 to 30 days in a frequent abuser. Quick and accurate results can be obtained by this test.
Marijuana testing at home by these drug test kits can be done easily. Hence, it is considered as an efficient tool for parents for checking marijuana consumption by children.
