Dental braces are devices used in orthodontics treatment for the alignment and straightening the teeth and help to position them in the dental health. Braces are also used to correct under bites, as well as malocclusion, overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites, crooked teeth, and various other conditions of the teeth and jaw.

There are seven types of braces made with metal or plastic braces. They are stainless metal braces, ceramic or clear braces, sapphire braces, traditional silver braces, gold braces, self-ligating braces, clear aligners.

Stainless metal braces are used for the people who are not allergic to metal.

Ceramic braces or clear braces are translucent and clear and therefore a less visible alternative to the traditional ones. Teenagers mostly choose this kind of braces because it almost blend with the color of the teeth and less visible to others. Ceramic brackets are quite expensive and more brittle and prone to breakage.

Sapphire braces are made up of pure mono crystalline sapphire. These are similar to clear braces but more expensive than any other braces.

Traditional silver braces are the most common and most popular style of braces that give most efficient and precise movement of the teeth. These braces can be used with different color combinations based on the user needs.

Gold braces are mostly like traditional silver braces but coated with gold and people chose for their aesthetic appeal.

Self-ligating braces are same as traditional braces and it doesn’t require the use of elastics, meaning fewer appointments and less friction being placed on the tooth but it will use a specialized clip in place of elastics to help the arch wire guide teeth into place. It helps reduce the amount of pressure being placed on the tooth, and requires fewer adjustments because there are no elastics to replace.

Clear aligners are the braces with a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays used in straightening the teeth. They are comfortable to the patient while in treatment because you can do whatever you want. It is invisible and can be removed whenever you want to remove.
